The presidential election is exactly a month away, and it's a hot topic even in places where people can't vote for Sens. John McCain or Barack Obama.

Conversation in the Java U cafe near Montreal is lively even before customers get their coffee, local news station WPTZ reported.

"Politics are important, and for once people are interested," said Vincent Sabourin of Montreal, Quebec.

It's not the upcoming Canadian election they're steaming about.

"I follow American politics more than Canadian politics," said Veronica Church.

The cafe's owner uses tip cups as a way to incite political discourse.

He put pictures of Obama and McCain on competing jars.

Customers can put change in the jar of their favored candidate.

So far, according to the cafe owner, customers have overwhelmingly supported Obama.
